N@C’s Display at Digital Fair in Biswambarpur

The Nutrition at the Center (N@C) team in Bangladesh recently participated in a Digital Fair in Biswambarpur District on May 29-30, 2014.  N@C staff shared how they are promoting and supporting the use of digital technology to strengthen health systems and improve nutrition efforts by partnering with government counterparts.

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have outfitted Community Health Clinics (CHCPs) with palmtop computers, handheld laptops with internet modems.  Nutrition at the Center staff are providing training to clinic staff on these technologies as well as organizational software developed by the Dictorate General of Health Services. This software allows clinic staff to track and update their files remotely at any time.  N@C staff are also working to ensure that nutrition indicators are included in regular reporting.

N@C Research Assistant Screens a Mother for Anemia During Baseline Data Collection in Bangladesh

Nutrition at the Center staff also shared their strategy for using Hemocue analyzers for anemia screening in the field.  Staff provided information to fair attendees on how to utilize this technology in their own work.

Participation in this Digital Fair brought N@C activity to the attention of the Deputy Commissioner ,District Nirbahi Officers, the District Chairman, and District Vice chairman who have offered their support to help ensure the success of the project.
