N@C at the CORE Group’s Spring Meeting

The CORE Group Spring 2014 Global Health Practitioner Conference was held in Silver Spring, Maryland from May 5th – 9th 2014. Conference events focused on community health design and implementation, with an emphasis on maternal, newborn and child health. This year’s theme was “Health for All Starts in the Community.” The theme was explored through the lens of universal health coverage, addressing inequities in the health system, linking the community more effectively with the health system, and capitalizing on the role of civil society organizations. The Conference drew 309 participants from 105 different organizations and 19 countries.Spring_Conference_Banner

Together, community health implementers and leaders collectively shared specific tools, learning, and strategies to help accelerate progress toward universal health coverage drawing on improved partnership, equity, community health, and civil society engagement.

Nutrition at the Center staff Lenette Golding, Imee Cambronero and Allison Prather contributed to the meeting by presenting two posters and facilitating a plenary session. Imee outlined the M&E strategy for the Nutrition at the Center program in her poster presentation Integrated Programming: Effectively Addressing M&E Complexities and Priorities; and Allison shared a poster highlighting Nutrition at the Center’s approach to formative research in her poster: Alternative Methods to Collect Formative Research on Integrated Nutrition Programming in Ethiopia.

For the second year in a row, Lenette led a plenary discussion titled The Inspiration Shop, a participatory session that focuses on the development worker through inspirational story telling.  Participants of the Inspiration Shop were thrilled with the session, having this to say:

  • This was really great and very relevant to what people are dealing with in regard to innovation.
  • Very inspirational and informative!
  • The speakers were engaging and inspiring!
  • I think the Inspiration Shop should be included at every meeting.
  • So meaningful and touching – something I will never forget.

We are very proud and appreciative of the work our team members are doing to draw attention to Nutrition at the Center and to inspire others.
